Galina Haakenson, landscape and animal artist, moved to the beautiful state of Minnesota from Russia 17 years ago. The lakes and park paths here give her ideas for paintings.
As a little girl she loved to draw pictures of flowers, ponds, and forests. Her specialty was drawing ducks.
Galina's grandmother lived in a very small town. There were woods, fields and crops around her house. Little Galina picked wildflowers and made bouquets for her grandmother. These early impressions influence her artwork to this very day.
Galina visits the old fields from time to time; the passion for art always lives in her. She is happy to express her feelings through painting.
Watch for Galina's splendid tigers, soulful cows faces, and colorful roosters. Her show will be hanging in Dow Art Gallery and Picture Framing until the end of February.
